Many people know the beauty of Michelangelo's paintings. Most have heard of the plays of Shakespeare. These works are among the cultural highlights of Europe during the Renaissance. This term means "rebirth" in French. The Renaissance period lasted from the 1300s through about 1600. It is often remembered as a cultural high point in history.

The largest Indian reservation in the United States belongs to the Navajo people. It covers more than 27,000 square miles (70,000 square kilometers) in the states of New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. The Navajo are the country’s second most populous Native American tribe, with more then 330,000 members counted in the U.S. census of 2010.
