"My Beijing" is the first unit in the Grade Six Individuals & Societies program. Students in grade six are from all around the world, and some from right here in Beijing. It is important for everyone to have a strong understanding of where we live. In this unit we will study the geography, settlement, key historical moments, and city services of Beijing. The aim is for students to recognize the significance of this wonderful city and their relationship to it. We will celebrate our learning in a field trip to the new UNESCO Heritage Site of Beijing's Central Axis. We will visiting the Bell Tower, a series of lakes, The White Pagoda in Beihai Park, and admire the view of the Forbidden City from Jingshan Park. Students will learn about the importance of these sites throughout the history of Beijing, and keep an eye out for all the services that Beijing offers its citizens.
