The V&A began acquiring photographs in 1852, and its collection is now one of the largest and most important in the world.

Through the words and portraits that follow, you'll meet impressive, insightful women from all walks of life—women to whom National Geographic put the same set of questions. Some are notables from our new book WOMEN: The National Geographic Image Collection. Others are National Geographic Society scientists and explorers.
