G08: I&S Where are all the People?: Overview

The objective of this GDRC programme on Sustainable Development is to function as a repository of key online information on the theme - since considerable information already exists on the web. It also helps in contextualizing all other programmes of GDRC, which eventually, directly or indirectly, leads to sustainability.

To achieve self-reliance, poor communities need answers to questions like: How can we grow more and healthier food? Protect our health? Create jobs? A key part of Canada’s aid program since 1970, IDRC supports research in developing countries to answer these questions.

The International Institute for Sustainable Development is a Canadian-based, international public policy research institute for sustainable development.

The UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014) seeks to mobilize the educational resources of the world to help create a more sustainable future.
