🧪 Ultra-processed foods are foods that are made mostly from ingredients you wouldn’t find in a home kitchen, like artificial flavors, colorings, preservatives, and other additives. They’re designed to be super tasty and last a long time, but they often have very little fresh or whole food in them.
Think of snacks like crisps, fizzy drinks, instant noodles, packaged cakes, and even some ready meals. They usually go through lots of industrial steps and include things like emulsifiers, sweeteners, or flavor enhancers.
🔍 Why it matters?
These foods are often high in sugar, salt, and fat, but low in fiber and nutrients. Eating too much of them has been linked to health problems like obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.
