Britannica: Galveston hurricane of 1900
One of the deadliest natural disasters in U.S. history was the Galveston hurricane of 1900, a massive storm that occurred in September 1900 and claimed more than 5,000 lives. The storm hit the island city of Galveston, Texas, as a category 4 hurricane, the second-strongest designation on the scale used to rank hurricane intensity.

Earth Observatory: Cyclone Nargis
In early May 2008, Cyclone Nargis passed over Burma (Myanmar) after forming in the Bay of Bengal. At one point, Nargis was a Category 4 cyclone, with sustained winds of 210 kilometers per hour (130 miles per hour), according to Unisys Weather.
