Read. Compete. Earn Points for Your House!
Welcome to the House Reading Challenge - a monthly reading adventure hosted by the MS Red Scroll Library!
Students from the three houses — Dragon, Phoenix, and Griffin - will read the selected books, complete monthly challenges, and earn house points through reading and quizzes.



Everyone in the middle school are welcomed to join the challenge!
The challenge happens once a month.
The challenge takes place during WEIRD Time (Friday, 10:05–10:45).
Location: Room 5115 (in person) / join online in your mentor group.
Read the Book(s):
Pick your book(s) from the monthly list and read before the challenge day.
Quiz Time:
During the scheduled WEIRD session, come to 5115 and use the iPad provided to answer multiple choice questions about the book you read. or
Join the online challenge using the link shared by the Teacher Librarian.
Earn Points:
If your quiz score is 60% or higher, you’ll earn house points for your team.
The number of points you earn depends on the book’s length:
Points = total word count ÷ 3000 (rounded).
Even if you don’t pass the quiz (score lower than 60%), you’ll still earn 1 point for participation your house - because every effort counts!
There will be 5 rounds of battles throughout the 2025 - 2026 school year.
A total of 30 selected books will be featured.
At the end of the semester, the house with the most accumulated points will be crowned the Reading Champion House!

If your book has 27,000 words,
👉 You earn 9 house points for passing the quiz.
If you don’t pass but still join the quiz,
👉 You still earn 1 point for participation.
