Putting a Human Face on the UN SDGs

Virtual reality Clouds over Sidra

The Za’atari Refugee Camp in Jordan is home to over 80,000 Syrians fleeing war and violence. Half of these are children. Clouds Over Sidra is the story of a 12 year old girl who has lived there since the summer of 2013. The film follows her to school, to her makeshift tent and even to the football pitch.

You can borrow VR goggles from the library to watch this using a phone and the app.

Positive Negatives Stories

Refugee republic

Life in the Domiz refugee camp is explored through an interactive digital story using a hand drawn map as the basis. Four different routes can be navigated with different outcomes and stories. Each route has black and white pen drawings as a backdrop interspersed with photos, video, text, sounds and personal stories. Interactive story telling such as this is a powerful tool to access both an emotional and intellectual response thereby enhancing the learning experience. By showing both the unique and everyday experiences of refugees the observer is able to make connections to the characters while learning about the refugee experience and absence of rights, in contrast to their own lives.
