Critical Reflection: What are some misconceptions to address to udpates you could make in your teaching and learning?

Unit or Assessment

Develop or refine a unit or assessment for one of your classes, using some or all of the data tools.

How does taking a data-informed approach change the unit?

How can students demonstrate their learning?

How would you evaluate the success of the unit or assessment?

A Data-Informed Inquiry

Pick a topic or concept you are planning to teach. What is the state of the world right now? How do you know? How can you put the these tools to work in updating your understanding of the issue?

Set your line of inquiry and inquiry questions. Gather data and visualisations.

Present your findings.

Get Started in Plickers

Create your Plickers account and set up some "hinge" questions for a topic or concept you are about to teach.

  1. What is so important that all students need to grasp it fully to be able to move on?
  2. What are some common misconceptions?
  3. How might you put the quiz to work in creating a peer-teaching moment?

Ladder of Feedback

The Ladder of Feedback, as featured in Creating Cultures of Thinking

Moving up the ladder, give constructive feedback to a peer on their outcomes so far. How does language frame thinking and discussion at each stage? How might you put this to work in collaborative planning, teaching and learning in your own context?
