Kitchen Confident

by Keri-Lee Beasley on 2023-05-18T10:32:00+08:00 | 0 Comments

One of my favourite places in any house is the kitchen, and not just because all the best snacks can be found there. A trip down memory lane in a kitchen might bring back memories of epic dish towel fights with your siblings, the after-school treats you ate every day, or family members creating meals you still crave today. In this week’s blog post, I challenge you to get your kids in the kitchen - to cook alongside them and encourage them to cook independently. Parents of G9 students – your children have a head-start right now, as they have been making fresh pasta in Design classes.

Real-Life Skills

Cooking with your children, irrespective of their age, is a great way to spend quality time with them while imparting essential life skills. Making something as simple as pancakes can teach them about measurements, while preparing a global dish can turn into a geography and culture lesson. Plus, they'll learn about nutrition and the value of a balanced diet.

Cooking Up Confidence

When kids cook, they're not just making a meal, they're building confidence. There's a unique sense of accomplishment when they serve a dish they've prepared themselves. This confidence can positively impact other areas of their life, making them more self-reliant and self-assured.
